Dear Taxpayers,
We are writing to inform you about updates to the GST registration process. Please read the following key points carefully to ensure that your application is processed smoothly:
- Changes in GST Rules: As per an amendment to Rule 8 of the CGST Rules, 2017, GST registration applicants can now be identified through biometric-based Aadhaar authentication. This includes the analysis of data and risk parameters, as well as the submission of a photograph and original documents.
- New Process Introduced: The GSTN has introduced this new feature, which has been implemented in Chhattisgarh, Goa, and Mizoram starting from 15th December 2024.
- What Happens After You Submit Your Application: Once you submit your GST REG-01 application, you will receive an email with one of the following options:
- (a) A link for OTP-based Aadhaar Authentication, or
- (b) A link to book an appointment at a GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK) for biometric-based Aadhaar authentication and document verification.
- If You Receive the OTP Link (Option 3a): If the email provides a link for OTP-based Aadhaar Authentication, you can continue with your application as per the usual process.
- If You Receive the Appointment Booking Link (Option 3b): If you receive a link to book an appointment, you must use it to schedule a visit to the designated GSK for biometric authentication and document verification.
- Availability of Appointment Booking: The appointment booking feature is available to applicants in Chhattisgarh, Goa, and Mizoram.
- Confirmation Email for Appointment: After booking your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with the details of your appointment. You must bring this email with you to the GSK on the scheduled date.
- Documents You Need to Bring to the GSK: When visiting the GSK, make sure to bring the following:
- A copy (either hard or soft) of your appointment confirmation email.
- The jurisdiction details mentioned in the intimation email.
- Original Aadhaar Card and PAN Card.
- Original copies of the documents you uploaded with your application (as indicated in the intimation email).
- Biometric Authentication and Document Verification: Your biometric authentication and document verification will be carried out at the GSK for all individuals listed in your GST application (Form REG-01).
- Appointment Timing: You must choose your appointment within the timeframe specified in the intimation email. Once biometric authentication and document verification are successfully completed, your Application Reference Number (ARN) will be generated.
- GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK) Working Hours: The operating days and hours for the GSKs will follow the guidelines set by the state government in your respective state.
Please ensure that you complete the process within the specified timelines to avoid delays in your GST registration. If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact the designated GST support channels.
Thank you for your cooperation.
